NOTE: This was written awhile ago for Ron Carnell, our gracious host and Ron Brockman, my first internet fan! Ron Carnell gave me a home here at Passions and Ron Brockman, encouraged and cajoled me into writing more and more (a lot of my poems were written from phrases he would challenge me with). So to them, I write this 'love' letter:

One of you gave me the courage
To write the songs in my heart
One of you gave me a home
A joyous place to start

Both of you gave me freedom
To pen this poet’s song
For that I will always remember
That I once yearned to belong

You share more than a name
In my eyes you share my fate
With kindness and compassion
It’s your approval I await

The din of applause may never
Be heard by this poet’s ears
But I have heard your praise
Soothe over my doubts, my fears

Others may heap accolades
Upon your deserving breast
But in the quiet of my night
I count you both as the best

Friends that always lift me up
Both sharing a common name
You are The Rons, as I know you
Both different yet both the same

Though time will surely pass
I will count each of you as friend
With every rhyme, you are the reason
This poet’s song will never end.

PDV,
I don't know what your challenge was but I'd say you surpassed it with aplomb

Very excellent tribute, deVine one. We all need someone to let us write and someone to write for...you were blessed with both.

Thank you for your kind comments!!

I actually sent an email intended for Ron Carnell to Ron Brockman in the beginning of our friendship! It was effusive comments on the update of the main site - of course Ron B. said huh? LOL

I find it amazing that we can be touched by someone we've never met. And it was just 5 years ago I bought my first computer and came into the strange world of the internet! And I've 'met' some wonderful people - here at PiP and in other places...thank you all so much for being who you are!

This is really well written! Friendship lasts through a long time, and to find friends that we can relate to in one way or another, is truly a gift of fate. And you've expressed your gratitude well. I'm sure both Rons enjoyed reading what you posted. hehe

What a great story of those who inspired you PdeV. As one who has often gone years in between bouts of poetry, this site has inspired me to keep writing, instead of putting my pen down for another few years.
So glad you got the encouragement to keep writing. You always write so well, keep on writing and we'll keep on reading.

Ron Brockman drops by to read now and then, though he prefers that I still send him my poetry via email. Ron Carnell of course is here LOTS. It is nice to know that there are people in this world that are capable of such kindness. I do appreciate them both (Though Ron Brockman has given me a few phrases to create a poem from that have stumped me!!)
