Morning Tea

There’s something in the morning breeze
That whispers things to come
A certain smell of snow is in the air
It looks like things are going to freeze
There is no morning sun
And every living creature is aware

There is no time to waste, they said
And scurried through the brush
Digging up some nuts once left behind
And pretty cardinal wing of red
All morning in a rush
To feed and find a shelter by the shed

I watched them all, the birds and squirrels
While sipping morning tea
Preparing for a storm, as well they should
It’s strange sometimes how they unfurl
Forewarnings -as for me
A trek up hill to stock some extra wood

I can see you sitting there, Liz, watching the morning grow old, content in your day and your life, beautiful in the little things you do that you don't even notice.  Did I mention classy?

Elizabeth:  I know exactly what you were writing about.  I lived in Rochester NY for 13 years and we would watch the squirrels get ready for Winter or for a storm.  I felt like I was sipping the tea with you.  Great imagery.

Oh my what a pretty sight~and I can't wait to share "tea for two" I have never seen a cardinal except on cards that is, and I love watching birds, hope they are still there in the spring.  Oh...this I loved and forgot to mention that part!

Yep, it sure is getting cold. Nothing like a piping hot cup of tea to take the chill off! Lovely poem, Elizabeth!

Elizabeth, I love the feeling when you know a storm is brewing....sipping tea, gathering wood, and then a hush before the wind starts to howl....oh I love it!
Thank you for this one!
Hugs, Nancy.

Our morning creatures tell us so much, and even more, when we take a moment to listen, over tea...
