Villifying the silver tongued,
I redress scalawags with truth.
I show the world their rascally ways,
'Cause that's what poets do.

I open eyes with tales about
Balladeer's wasted youth.
I never miss a chance in here,
'Cause that's what poets do.

I tell tall tales at his expense,
I may exagerrate a fact or two.
But the marks I hit are easy shots,
'Cause that's what poets do.

But through it all, the lies and such,
(I confess, many of them aren't true)
Are in deepest respect for Balladeer,
When he excels at what poets do.

I hope this poem will self-destruct,
Shortly after you've read it through.
I need to destroy this evidence quick,
'Cause that's what pirates do.

I hope you keep on Balladeer's good side this year. What would happen if that wooden pegleg of yours got termites? Who would you call to get rid of them?

LJA has a pegleg?
I think an imposter wrote this...I have never heard him being so nice to Balladeer.

They don't take baths for months on end
The ladies say PEEEEYEEEUUUU!!
They love to live a life of grime
'Cause that what pirates do.

They never shave or change socks as
They sail the oceans blue
They sleep in what they wear by day
'Cause that's what pirates do.

Green parrots sit on shoulders and
That's where they take a poo
But seamen love that sultry smell
'Cause that's what pirates do.

They have peglegs and silver hooks
At night that they unscrew
Just like they treat their lonely wives
'Cause that's what pirates do.

But, LongJohn, you are quite the best
And everyone loves you
Ok, I'm lying just a bit
'Cause that what pirates do!!!

Balladeer - you run me through with your sweet words, ya rascal!  lol - A great rejoinder, sort of, in that I don't have a parrot anymore.  ROFL@unscrew, BTW.  That was a great verse.

Thank you all, for your tolerance, laughter, and understanding.  I also have enjoyed the many comments and work many of you have done to make me feel at home with this poem.

I'm sitting in front row, so let the sweettalks begin
As you both are such good writers I'm in for a lot of fun
