First tooth to push though my gums
meant others would follow one by one
first baby on the block with a full mouth set
and then to the dentist, my parents followed next.

First brush, the mishwak, used in ancient times
was applied to clean the gums and remove the grime,
first cleaning agent, pumice rubbed in haste
was a far cry from the first toothpaste.

so dental care moves on to oral hygiene
and product development took off with steam,
the powdered pumice was thrown away
and modern toothpaste became a mainstay.

first tooth to brush and then to gleam
first toothed smile building self-esteem
lucky man whose teeth have given you a bite
in a world of romance, the fires they'd ignite.

Wow.......a poem about teeth, Martin.
You think of the most interesting topics.
I think you should send this to your dentist.
He/she will probably enjoy it.

SEA,

now I'm in a dilemma, if powdered pumice is kept...I'll have to 'darn' this poem.lol

Juanita,

neat way to get young kids to brush
have then recite Martin's poem, no fuss!
