what child is this, who born this day
arrived on earth with much to say
but, without jingle bells or Santa Claus
there were not many who stopped to pause
no, there weren't many who came to see
that he came today for you and me
save three kings from lands afar
guided by light of one bright star

shepherds also came, sent by angel choirs
told that he was their heart's desire
they knelt and gave thanks for this child
born the light of heaven by Mary mild
the one spoken of by prophets old,
now come to earth this night so cold,
coos softly in his manger bed
knowing not the crown upon his head

now again, we celebrate the birth
the son of man come now to earth
arrived this night mankind to save
for our lives, his life he gave
now sing we all this holy night
as three kings did 'neath star so bright
let us not now his coming miss
or we too will ask, what child is this?

Hi Sven,
although I am Jewish and don't celebrate Christmas, I see the beauty and the love pouring out of this poem.
I do believe that Jesus was a great prophet and a brilliant, charismatic man...and I think that if he came back today and saw how the world celebrated his birthday, that he would be sorely disappointed with all of the commercialism.
Christmas is supposed to be a religious holiday, I don't know how it evolved into the crass commercialism that it is today.
Great work!

(smiles) Oh John, this is soooooo beautiful, I cried reading this to feel His loving face smile in His manger as the three kings watched over Him. (sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, this is the perfect celebration of our Son of Love. (big hugggssssss) We all love you so much, sweet friend! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sven, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Sven,
What a thought, what a way to write about it. I loved the softness in this...it was almost hushed.

And this was your Christmas Card, yes? If not, it should have been.  Thank you for this Sven...a lovely turn of song to word.

Yeah Sven, I actually feel guilty about not including christ(though I really meant too) but, at least some folks such as you included Christ, after all, it's birthday...anyways, thanks for the read...you did a fantastic job....Merry Christmas and peace!

Very niely done, Sven.  I think this one has many meanings to be found.  Very fitting for Christmas.
