Pacific Walking

I want to walk
the Pacific again

not necessarily live
there, but my
lungs require
salty inspire

to breath its air
hear great foggy horns
and crying gulls,
that they try to
replicate on tape
but somehow those
gulls seem fake

I want to walk
the Pacific again

Years became decades,
in times gone
I walked my beach
felt its wave,
plucked pink shells
up from beached grave
before they cracked
before crushed
to dust, when I
was one
with foamy water
and stinging salt,
remembering my
thoughts ~

I want to walk the
Pacific again

grainy Pismo sand
under feet,
Redondo beach was
warm,  sun-sweet
with first kiss
those first loves
and wind-honeyed
moments
in the fog ~

I want to walk the
Pacific again

western breezes
flung my hair to
strips of ribboned gold,

sun brought freckles
to this face, and I knew
God broke the mold

slender of stance,
soon faced the test of beast
moved east

nothing is quite like the
western beach, its sound
waves
surf

nothing can take me
back to yesterday
but I still hold on
for all
my worth

I want to walk
the Pacific again

to hear my pounding
heart, then
feel the crashing waves
and spray
walk along the rocky way
and the magnificence
God imparts

salt of sea
is calling me

to walk the Pacific again.

I've only seen the Great Pacific once - but with the beautiful Atlantic at my doorstep, I've gotta say I agree - Once you've got the ocean in your blood - There's nothing like it...This is wonderful, Sunshine...

This is indeed excellent writing, Sunshine. Your words flow like the ocean currents and waves you describe...VERY nicely done

Ah, to feel the sand beneath my feet, the smell of the water behind me....hey! That reminds me...I gotta get to the golf course!!

Kari darling girl, when you walk the beach I'll be there with you. Truly wonderful writing as always.

You really can write soooooo clearly and I swear I could hear the gulls. Oh I could, they have come up the river, as they do often, particularly when it's a stormy day.

Love and warm stuff

I live about twenty miles from Blackpool, not very romantic but it has sea. Loved your pacific memories, thanks for sharing.

Sunshine - Such a beautiful and descriptive write.  I hope you make it back there someday.  I do have one question, what is wrong with the good old Atlantic Ocean?

(big hugggssssss) Oh my gosh, I do know ever so much how you feel; I was up in Oregon last summer and I was greatly inspired by the ocean, and I miss so much walking on the sands, and dream of holding my lovers hand in the Chinook winds on a spring or summer afternoon and evening there, seeing every sunrise and sunset! (kiss on cheek) Such a beautiful yearning expression, sweet friend, I too dream so much of living near the ocean! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Karilea, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

The surf does make the blood pound in perfect beat at times, and there is nothing like the smell of the salt and the wind..You have made me miss all of what I have known with your words...very well done, Sunshine, very well done, indeed

I was born in Boston.  I have never felt the Pacific in my face till I read your words.  It was extremely well written. - Our past memories leave us here - while past visions seems more than clear -  You inspire me to write.  Roger

Karilea, I have never been to the Pacific, and I have always wanted to go...and now you have taken me there with your brilliantly written poem....
Having grown up on the east coast, near another ocean,
I could actually smell the salt air between the lines of your poem.
