standing on a shadow's lace

I saw my breath
hot against cold
standing in line
waiting for a miracle
looking inside
I shined the window
with steady hands
of opened palms
hoping a little
of the inside
would rub off
on the outside

"I have already paid for all my future sins."  Sade...(King of Sorrow)

This really hit me hard, Helen.  I remember a time when I smashed through glass to get "out" and ignored the cuts and slivers.  Funny, how a poem will send shivers up a person's spine.  That's the beauty of poetry.  It is truly alive and holds different meanings for every reader.

But this one really meant something special for me.

1slick_lady - I do like this one by you. Tells a lot, as you write your words...
