Dear Santa, As I write to you a funny thing occurs to me Oh, I've been good, you know that's true ( well most the time, supposedly), but something has been on my mind especially now as of late, that's why I'm leaving this note here along with cookies on your plate. It's been some time since I wrote you, about two score of years I guess. My own kids have stopped writing too, and all but one has left the nest. In all those years that have gone by I never knew quite what to say, so by your leave ( next to your milk ) I've left this message on your tray. Your stories have inspired me from when I was a wee small lad. That gift alone means more to me than any that I've ever had. I'm not asking for one more thing because I now have what I need, to thank you (though it's long past due) these last few lines I hope you'll read. In some place on some future night another child will learn to write, at first by asking you for toys and so discover that the joy, lay not in presents 'neath the tree much sooner than it's taken me. Now isn't that a funny thought? More gifts delivered than were brought. |

Doc Moose, I love your note to Santa and your entire poem. Very heartwarming lesson in your message. It IS so much better to give than receive. Thanks, Cheryl |
