When dreams were not yet shattered
When moving woes and Christmas lists
Were concerns that really mattered.

When fear didn't quake my knees
When bile didn't rise within my throat
Transport me back in time, please!

Remind me how it felt to breathe
Before the word "cancer" was uttered
When terror didn't dominate
These thoughts which are so cluttered.

Take me back to yesterday
And a life not filled with dread
Let hope and happiness romp again
Within this weary head.

Take me back to yesterday
Protect me from tomorrow
Or give me now a guarantee
It won't bring only sorrow.
