I'm a Rose Among the Roses I am a rose among the roses Petals pink and scarlet red But within bouquets of splendor I’m alone in garden’s bed I’m a star among the planets Spinning round forever more Though the stars surround my essence I’m alone at heaven’s door I am waters of the river Flowing to the mighty sea Joining all the streams that gather Where my eyes see only me I'm a feathered purple martin Soaring with a thousand birds Wings are fluttering around me In the silence of my words I have loved ones gathered near me Though my heart is still alone Then I saw a purple martin Sit upon a thorny throne Just beneath a small umbrella Of a rose above his head In the silence of my garden Looked my way with tilted head I will always be alone, my dear As long as we’re apart Just one man among a million Who can fill my lonely heart But within a moment’s pause A purple martin is my friend I’m a rose among the roses His companion until then Elizabeth Santos [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (12-20-2001 12:10 PM).] |

I really liked this and the sentiment behind the words, I did get stuck on one line, it stopped me and i had to read it over. "I have loved ones gathered near me" I kept reading it as,,, I have loved..like you have loved the ones. I would make just one change to.. Loved ones that I have near me OR Loved ones gathered near me... something like that, I am sure you can fix this one tiny thing. great poem. strbbux |
