leviathan
(some day, I will be human)

In die illo visitabit Dominus
in gladio suo grandi et forti
super leviathan tortuosum
et occidet draco qui in mari est.

I feel some presence: obsidian black,
a breath across my back, a feather grasp
amid some crowded, unowned
whispered ash.

De naribus eius procedit fumus.
Halitus eius prunas ardere facit
et flamma de ore eius egreditur.

A sliver of sun, homebound,
bright from the shadowed sound
of feelings dark as night.
This is the thing I know so well
breathing loud.

An extrahere poteris Leviathan hamo
et fune ligabis linguam eius?

It is gathered all around.

Numquid pones circulum in naribus eius
et armilla perforabis maxillam eius?

It is in the downward flight

Numquid multiplicabit ad te preces
aut loquetur tibi mollia?

and eats its sons

Numquid feriet tecum pactum?
Numquid inludes ei quasi avi?

who shine on Satan's fall.

Some day, I will be human,
perhaps.
