I’ve always been a diehard
fan of the blonde
call me typical, call me predictable

I won’t disagree
no self-control do I know
in their presence

Yet, lately it is the redhead
drawing my attention
and I’m not sure
who should be more concerned
them or I

They are a savvy lot
these women of fire
a fine match
for my wit and conjecture

So I pen for them this morning
a few words of appreciation
thank you much for the challenge
much more for the inspiration

Marches to a different drum
And if she should inspire you

For the frolic and the games
Especially say a thank you
And quietly proclaim
Just do not dare this redhead
For she knows to write in rhyme
A dare sounds like the starting gun
That signals it’s playtime
So glad you find its redheads
That challenge and inspire
And know this fiery redhead
Says it’s you she does admire

Now, the benefits of knowing a redhead may be worth the risk
because she can be shy but she can also be brisk
her mama don't dance and her daddy don't rock and roll
they gave all their energy to her heart and soul!

If she has freckles, you are in for a ride
There is no safe place on earth to hide!
But a woman with fire is well worth knowing
that is until her roots start showing!!
