I bow to the hallowed storefront walls and two-story concrete waterfall winged creatures, carved in fine detail grace the gates of stores, upscale the guardian angels of retail behold the salesmen so well oiled selling trinkets and gargoyles as they kiss the feet of patrons, loyal a marketplace filled with smelly candles loincloths, robes and strappy sandals marauding hordes of teenage vandals almighty stairs of moving stripes escalate our spending heights to ever more tempting sinful delights savor the sinful stench in the air from the food court at the top of the stairs serving sacrificial fast food fare heavenly choirs of cash registers sing with pieces of silver offerings rejoice rejoice rejoice, kaChing!!! a solemn voice on P.A. system, says "hark, a little soul is missing" her parents hope the throngs are listening an oasis of plants, green plastic lush and ersatz marble fountains, plush past which the pious shoppers rush rise up, rise up, and hear the call lift up thine eyes, and see the scrawl behold the writing on the wall the signs upon these sacred halls say "big sale next week come one, come all thy bargains await thee at the mall" [This message has been edited by Madame Chipmunk (edited 12-14-2001).] |

Hehe! I thoroughly enjoyed this one, Lyra. It made me giggle to think of the classical Greek architecture and images meeting modern-day fashion and cappucino bars. ~What is cherished most is what must be the hardest fought for.~ |

Lyra, this doesn`t sound like our mall at all.I would rather go to K Mart anytime. But to tell you the truth I just love to shop.We went last night to pick up some toys for Toy for Tots and I had to hide them from Chase.TAKE CARE! Love, Juanita |

Lyra darling girl this is utterly wonderful. I really and truly adore this. As always your writing is insightful and witty. This is a keeper for certain. I know just what you mean too. It sounds just like our shopping mall Love and warm stuff As always Mushy To give light to them that sit in darkness..... to guide our feet into the way of peace St John ch2 v1 |

Thanks Son and Chelle, Its the mall, alright...and its probably the way people shopped in ancient times also. The ancient Greeks invented everything else, so they probably invented shopping malls also. copyright2001 Lyra Nesius |

Juanita...it sounds like you and your family have such a wonderful time at Christmas... I have often wished I could celebrate it without guilt. In fact, I've just written a poem about that...stay tuned! copyright2001 Lyra Nesius |
