State of Suspended Passion

They say he is different in his expectations
and that perhaps his views are too romanticized.
How could we not one day know love
without feeling some kind smile for the future?

Away from me
for on this night
I am stepping away from the cold of your eyes
to seek shelter in places untouched
by eyes that roll in jest
or mouths that lay the sauce of humour on too thickly.
You, madame, are too brazen in your indifference
to visit these other sands with me
so I'll lock you out
and you'll never know the real me again
for he has gone away
finding the shore where he once missed
the lasting love that was to come his way.
How many times begged for?
How many times stepped over?
And now watch through the glass
as he doesn't hide now
his final destination.
Now watch as he finds her sitting in quiet ponder
and see her eyes light up upon the arrival
of his hand on her shoulder
his smile in her soul.

and
FEEL
ohhh...yes...feel what you missed
when you, so many times, shrugged away that hand
chipped away that smile with your ignorance
and blindness.
You say I'm angry and you don't know why
and you would know
had you listened when the time was ripe for listening,
but now that fruit has fallen from the tree
bruised
and left rotting in intimate whispering with blades of grass.
So how can you expect me to feel as much passion for you
as I do these words and her
How can I tell you except to let you watch through the glass
that I can't listen to excuses anymore
or that they don't even matter?
Your chance has ended.
I want to be free.

Through pleasured windows he seeks her
resting there on silent sands
whispering to the sky
her fingers kissing the moisture of waves.
He, in solemn rest, finds her shoulder
and warms it with his hand.
There is the turning of heads
and knowing smiles
as if they'd been together all the while.

They have finally found their other selves.
And you stand there beating on glass that won't give anymore.

Now somewhere in another distance..
perhaps on the other end of that beachline
stands another glass.
other beating hands flail against it
with a futile desperation
a come back call igniting nothing but pleading tears
and there are no hands strong enough to bend
this clear glass looking wall
that glimpses the destination
of two cast out spirits who so desperately love.

There are small wishes for strength
a plea that this could not be another dream
for hearts like these don't mend too quickly,
and love like this
just doesn't bloom on whims of empty promises.
Will two endure where the scars are deep,
and the wait is unknown,
or will one turn back,
fooling himself?

This is a fascinating read in the middle of the night, very provocative thoughts....

Siofra,
This is loaded with intensity. Hope this isn't life! Certainly rings of experience. I liked the glass concept for conveying the results and the frustration. Nice job.

Siofra, what a thought provoking peice. I have missed many chances in my life but I have also had a new begining and I am grateful for that.
Thank you for the wonderful read.
