He is close.
Close enough for me to
feel his breath on my neck.
My body tingles.
I want to look into his eyes.
But I'm too afaid,
of what I'll find there
and of what I won't
So, i just hold my breath.
And wait.
As I have waited for so long,
for the words I've been hoping and dreaming of.
The silence is broken,
when he clears his throat.
A small cough.
But big enough for me to turn and look at him.
And it happens.
Our eyes lock,
and for once I don't avert them.
I only look deeper into his,
searching.
I wish I can tell him,
how much i want him to
hold me, love me,
need me.
And how I've loved him for so long.
This moment lasts forever.
Erin, he says,
quietly, but strong,
slightly questioning.
I crinkle my forehead,
unsure of what to say.

His hand reaches out,
and he runs a finger down my cheek.
I breathe in,
slow and deep
and close my eyes.
His finger pauses on my chin,
and gently,
oh so gently,
lifts it up.
I open my eyes and smile,
and bite my lip out of nervousness.
Erin...he starts again,
then let's his lips finish the thought,
soft but passionate,
everything I had imagined
