HIM

The stars refuse to shine tonight,
Outside a still wind blows.
I face the world alone tonight,
Some things a man just knows.

The loss of shimmer on the eyes,
Refusal of a touch.
The words would sting, but silence lies -
Hurts more, if not as much.

It's funny how all lands on me,
At least I can hold blame.
Still I'll pretend not to see,
I will not ask his name.

But in the silence, in the cold,
Which inherits our bed;
By all the truths that lie untold,
In all we've left unsaid...

I cannot help but wonder why
You still come home to me,
As I'm reduced to live this lie
By your shameless decree.

Oh, yes, the stars seem bleak tonight.
My God, is love so grim,
That I must try to make this right...
Pretending there's no him?

Michael R, Anderson

But dreams of those who dream as I,
Aspiringly, are damned and die.

Well, we don't read you often enough but I can tell you one thing..you are sure worth waiting for.  This is splendid.

=======================================

There are times when I see my own reflections in another poet words...and the mirrors are blinding...
There are certain poets whose words touch me in places deep by the sheer power of their gift of expression, in that their every word is felt.
This one is like being kicked in the chest.
All your poetry pretty much takes my breath and words away...it always has.
You've been missed here M.

Its not like you to say sorry,
I was waitin on a different story.
This time I'm mistaken ...
for handing you a heart worth breaking.

You're still the king of poignancy, Michael.
Good to see your words here again.

This is achingly beautiful. My heart hurts just from reading it. I await your book Michael...I'll be first in line to buy it you know. (this is a shameless hint from a long time fan!)

psssst....breaking my sabbatical to let you know how moving this really is...I have felt what you right about and it's so odd...you feel almost paranoid amidst the denials...sigh...but you CAN feel a presence,
I know.

This is so achingly beautiful.  And that's hard to say about darker poems  - but, you write of pain, life and emotions like no other.  This really touched me and I do hope that it is not your reality.

Take care,

can relate to this Michael and the sense of rejection we get when least expected. Keep up your spirits though.

"It's funny how all lands on me,
At least I can hold blame.

Michael, your work is always so incredibly emotive, and this is a tremendous example. I'm not sure what is more difficult ... the effort in "pretending not to see" what affects us, or the sometimes unfounded blame that we hold within each of ourselves that can be so haunting and trying. Excellent cadence and rhyme in this contemplative piece ... always wonderful to read you.

Best wishes,
/Kit
