I've never had a Lover
who would sing aloud
nor one who'd write.

Never heard their passion
played on violin or piano
or read writ words to move me.

But........I have imagined
the trill of a nightengale
in their halting breath

and drank music from
their chaliced mouth
in the surroundsound
of a moaned embrace.

I've dipped my soul
in the poetic readings
of Lover's eyes.

and prayed at the cathedral
of the open fragrance
of enraptured hymns.

I've read between the lines
of the rhytmic heartbeat
and the supple beating breast,

floated on the heightened
words unwritten

and danced a Lover's dance
to an angel's string quartet
only heard by two.

Sometimes passions cannot be put to music or words but this does come close in expressing it.
