When Night Rushes In December 3, 2001 Copyright 2001 Doug Pretorius My darkest fear, when I lay silent and still comes biting and burning through velvet-clad eyes In wake I hide, cowaring in the light covering my tears with smiles of friends morning and night, twenty-four hours seven I’m broken and bleeding in my heart my soul tears itself apart How long I can stay awake, I don’t know what’s waiting for me is more terrifying than sleepless insanity I huddle close to a fire I’ve lit to ward off these evils though they come from my mind Even as I feel myself burning the fear of the night rushes in to hold me paralysed, I die |

Wow, nice dark imagery, I love the powerful thoughts you use in this poem . Enjoyed it, thanks . L.of.L. Tommy . XXX 'There is only a very thin line between genius and insanity, this is measured only on sucess; I am proud to be considered an under-achieving genius'. |

It's a terrible thing to live with so much fear. I hope your fear all goes away soon. |
