Wondering Moonlight sprinkling through moss-draped oaks caught his eyes that night as he made his way to the warm ocean sands. A night made for lovers, it would seem. The endless waves crashed loudly in the darkness, revealed only by their foam. The nearly full moon hung low over the waters and he watched as its ivory light danced upon the deep. He sat and tried to collect his thoughts, while breathing in the moist salt air. The sea birds had long since gone to bed and it only served to make the night that much more lonely. Where had he gone wrong? A kind and gentle man, he’d always been good to all that knew him and yet never once in his life had he found true love. Elusive, it had always escaped his grasp. Now in his graying years he wondered if it even mattered anymore. His sensitive heart seemed to stay in a state of constant turmoil. Why couldn’t a woman find in him what she needed to sustain herself? He sat and quietly wept as lonely wave after wave crashed and receded into the darkness. |

*sigh* This is so sad,but I hope this subject won't give up hope. Very tender writing full of wonderful imagery, Watcher. ![]() Sometimes the heart needs the solace of solitude and silence. |

Oh, this sounds like my many days and nights sitting lonely near the sea. What a dream it would be to share that perfection completely. Sandra |

When I lived near the beach, I would sit on the seawall or south jetty that protects the beach and cove from the strong high tides, and listen to the surf and the seagulls as the sun set. It often put me in a reflective mood..sometimes happy, sometimes sad, but somehow always refreshed. I enjoyed feeling the salty spray on my face, and listening to the crashing waves. Your poem took me to the sea, and tonight I will really miss it. As for love, it is as elusive as peace seems to be these days. May your wandering misplaced lover find you soon. |

James, Thank you. Martie, Thank you for the nice words. SEA, Thanks for such kind words and hugs back to you. vandana, Thank you and thanks for the welcome Temptress, Thank you and no, he won't give up hope. Sandra, Yes, it was a lovely night, just one of great loneliness. Sometimes being near the sea and even make it more so. Thank you. Midnitesun, I loved hearing your story. It was nice. However, there is no wandering misplaced lover. There is no lover at all, it would seem. Thank you. Tara, Yes, it is based on where I am now and I gratefully accept your hugs. Thank you. |
