Is  My  Pen   Empty ?

My  life's  in  a  dream
My  dream's  in  a  haze
no  longer  sure  of  reality
Perhaps  my  thoughts
are  a  waste
~
My  pen's  on  the  desk
it's  half  full  of  ink
Spent  half  its'  life  as  a  drumstick
Now ...
that's  all  it  cares  to  accomplish
It  only  rips  the  paper
~
Its'  ink  talked  freely
time  after  time
It  made  me  laugh
and  it  made  me  sigh
It  brought  me  pride
and  left  tears  in  my  eye
~
Round  and  round  and  round  it  goes
nothing  comes  out
Perhaps  it's  dead
or  could  it  be
that  all  this  time
My  entire  life's  dream
has  been  all  in  my  head
~
Is  my  pen  empty ...
or  am  I ?
~

There are so many empty pens out there, and also some which are overflowing, unable to take even a short break. The various stages of grieving are evident in the poetry I read, as well as in my own feeble lines. Sometimes there are no words at all to express the emotions we feel, and for me, that's when my pen suddenly goes dry.
Keep that pen nearby, as I believe it is very full, and ready to release itself soon, with your unique wisdom and love.

Rex, Your pen is not empty. All pens become weary at times and it's hard for them to write, especially through difficult times. We all have those periods where we can't seem to get our pens to move the way we want them too. Relax! You're just fine!

I would be betting that neither you or the pen are empty..just on vacation perhaps? Hanging out with my discouraged muse..

they love to play hide and seek
with the ink but they are full
