How important is it
to really see across a page
and absorb the texture
of every letter

The multi-colored musings
that jump from the lines
Fettering me homely
Until I release
the graffiti
Cracked as a grackle
on a wire
All blustered up
with fuzzy logic

My life is marked
by such indelible stains
Upon the covenant
Of my own being
Why should I become
The slate handler
hurling heavy
the dead thoughts

When even in dross
I may toss lively
The type that dream
Just in case
Someone out there
Identifies
A prize
Among the debris

The rush of inkling
subject matter
like fallen data
searching for a place
to land

tearing at my hands
So not to live in lifeless words
So not to smile shallow smiles
So not to be geriatric
Sewing crazy quilts
with the remnants of my life
That is why I must write

To question a person’s art
Is to question what their soul
Is made of

Mine? Split pea soup and mirrors
Now what could possibly add to that?
Everything under the sun!
I’ve only just begun
The religion
My raison d’etre
Ask me why I want to breathe

This came out when I was asked by a person why I wanted to write. Hope it makes sense. Thanks!

It doesn't just make sense...it gives life to a reason.

I think that writing gives us some control in this life. Love the poem.

"Someone out there

And this dear lady was a prize indeed, as are so many of your poems, and next time someone asks you, try my line, "I write therefore I am".

Makes sense to me, R.
Love the energy in this!
Especially like the off-beatness of:

"Cracked as a grackle
on a wire
All blustered up
with fuzzy logic"

Nice write.

(smiles) Oh Regina, I know just how you feel, for every breath says so much, and that is why we breathe, to express ourselves, to contribute a verse to the ongoing record of life, to live and share all our hearts feel. (smiles) BRAVO!!! What a fabulous way to put it! I LOVE IT!!! (kiss on cheek) You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Regina, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Poem well understood! I need to write..I think all of us here can't live without poetry. It helps us in so many ways and others relate to it so it is a very good feeling to write! Keep doing what you love best ;-)

Of course your last line answers the question. We write because we must.

Dear Regina, we all write for the love of expression and the want to share with others(my opinion). The things that I can not express in action I quietly express in words; although these words may not solve the situation, I feel as if a wieght has been lifted from within. Our lives are filled with situations, these the writer tries to share with others, be it today or some time in the future. Somehow we have been touched by a passion that comes with words and until they are written we feel hollow.
A great question Regina and wonderful words you have expressed.
Enjoyed the read.

Sincerely
Rick
