 Decry this land's integrity Besmirch it, call it vile; Because of her, you’ve liberty To spew forth putrid bile. Some grieve the loss of criminals Thus mock the innocent; For slaughtered individuals By some, no tears are spent. The starving children everywhere? We feed those in the fray; Because their leaders do not care Repression rules the day. We are the villains nonetheless To some, what e’re we do I haven’t heard, I must confess, Alternatives, have you? Insulting speech, vain diatribe Solves nothing, I submit; Unless solutions are prescribed No one can benefit. Despite her faults this is a land That aims for decency And by her side I’ll take my stand For truth and liberty. [This message has been edited by Denise (edited 11-10-2001).] |

Thanks wornways.....lol.....but no, I haven't changed anything in the poem but merely went in to put more spacing between the picture and the poem, but whew! I hear denunciations of the U.S. by some, but not one single viable alternative to the course we are on, which leads me to believe that some people just like to sling mud for the sake of slinging mud. Thanks again for your input! |
