Turns and Crosses I long to return to my cabin near Jenny Lake, a blue moon is promised, with stars in the forecast; I have planned an evening out – just me, a chair, and a bottle of wine, taking in the show: Grand Tetons in double images, lake and mountains, that lucky moon rising against Autumn’s sky, and phosphorescent Aspens in their final throes of seasonal whispers to Elk passersby. But the light is waning, and I’m still stuck in a diner with you, after a dull afternoon of tourist shopping, chicken-fried steak on your plate, bags at your feet chock-full of faux western wear. I’m hoping you’ll want to hang at the lodge bar later, I’ve got time slotted, set aside, to reunite with life tonight, the only way I know how, by surrendering myself to the skyline. © 2001 Corinne Bailey |

Wow Corinne, the visuals with this poem are awesome....I can almost smell the pine scent and the smoke from the fireplace which would obviously be roaring in the cabin... |

By the way, in reference to the title: *“The 1939 Maine Farmers' Almanac showed the beginnings of the seasons were fixed by "R.A.M.S." (right ascension of the mean Sun). The almanac lists separately the "Turns and Crosses" of the apparent Sun, which executes a "turn" from northward motion in declination to southward (or vice versa) at the solstices and "crosses the line" (the celestial equator) at the equinoxes.” Sky and Telescope Magazine, 1999. |

![]() (sigh) I know just how you feel, sometimes it feels so congested to be stuck in the heart of so many corridors and signals, when you can just relax to the great outdoors! (smiles) I love the mountains, and always enjoy going there to enjoy peace and quiet and inspirational beauty! (sigh) May you soon enjoy a great time at Jenny Lake again! (kiss on cheek) Sooooooo beautiful, sweet friend! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Corrine, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton |

Isn't it interesting how we allow ourselves to be trapped into things we don't enjoy while missing out on the things we do? There are time for us to show our turns and crosses, too.... |
