You say you must be everything,
Preacher, father figure, friend.
You spend your time just listening
to the woes of other men.

They speak to you of their concerns
their families, their wives.
I hope someday you realize
how your friendship touched their lives.

Though they may not ever tell you so,
they may not ever get the chance.
They may not ever think of thanks
in their current circumstance.

May not ever cross one single mind
to tell you they appreciate.
How glad they are your paths have crossed
in this evil twist of fate.

They may not even understand
The part that God did play.
In giving you perfect words
in all the things you say.

You fret that no one listens,
that you have problems too.
But you must be the lucky one,
God's listening to you.

With perseverance even the snail reached the Ark.
