        The Open Bag

White gold gatherers in the sky
and takes the sound from lullaby
and children’s echos catch my ear
this night turns shadows into leer

It bloom a dragon from a flower
and waits breathing in the bower
for the footsteps noisy clamor
that make me want to shake and stammer

I know they came with bags at open
ready for the plop of token
sweet wrapped candied child’s chew
tastes much better then my stew

I thought to gather all the apples
from the tree that gave such samples
fill the bags with goodness greenly
such a thing seemed to me quite seemly

But then I recalled old Mrs Spencer
who always made us girls enter
a song into her living room
that was heavy with too much perfume

Then not candy did she deliver
but things like carrots to help your liver
and even once she had the nerve
to make us chew up what she served

Now they come with bags at open
ready for the plop of token
sweet wrapped candied apples true
taste much better then my stew

These are the kinds of thoughts one should dwell on, wonderfully done, Martie.

I'll bake your apples into a pie
Your rhymes are the apple of my eye
I'll throw in some cinnamon and spice
A side of raspberry tea will be nice

Your poetry always leaves me wanting more
Must mean your a POET DOWN TO YOUR CORE

This distance has shown how the road remains alone
Now I'm looking in my life ... for a truth that is my own.

Trick or Treat!!  Lovely Martie and candy apples!! Love em!  At our house tonight as with every year the children receive a trick and a treat, as we perform magic for the little ones.  It is different and we enjoy it as much as the children.  A fun night and now your sweet poem...Mmmm, candy apples!!
