In the Past of Dreams ![]() Lost in the mind of a different time Trapped in her younger days She lives her life in happiness Unaware of even her age Loneliness and sorrow surround her Unknowingly she grins Seeing the face of remembrance Not living the life she's in Stepping back to another place When life was full and free Forgetting times of present She doesn't remember me The past has become her life In mind and body and soul Away has gone the heartache Time has taken it's toll She does not see the sorrow She does not see the pain She only sees the happiness In life she had to gain She lives within a fantasy world But satisfied it seems I love this sweet 'young' lady My grandmother in her dreams.... To my Grandmother Rosie....I love you Cpalmer God is our inspiration; Words of the heart can be music to our ears Cpalmer [This message has been edited by cpalmer (edited 10-22-2001).] |

What a lovely sweet poem for your grandma. And you know, it sounds like she's reliving her happiest days, and hey, that's not a bad thing. If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please? |

Cindy, this is so similar to my grandmother, except she does remember me, she just forgets that I saw her recently! I think there is something beautiful about forgetting, if it allows you to live in a brief time of happiness. Lovely tribute to your gram. Sandra I believe this is heaven to no one else but me, and I will defend it as long as I'm left here to linger in silence...Sara McLachlan |

I can not begin to tell you how this touched me. I am a very strong believer in the notion of the soul being renewed, and you have captured, with eloquence, something I hold very dear.... Poetic verse nestled in the warmth of my heart, reveals the sweet yearnings of my soul.... |

Larry, Thank you...My grandmother has been wonderful, although she has alzheimer's now she is still wonderful...Thank you love ya Tracey, I do believe Alzheimers hits the family alot worse than the person going through it...she is living in a happier time and I'm glad for her....thank you Hugs Etome, Thank you so much! Hugs Sandra, Actually most of the time she thinks I am my mother, since I look so much like her...so she is living the past, a happier time, I'm glad for that...this way she doesn't realize what is really happening to her...Yes there is beauty in forgetting...thank you Hugs Smartchick, Thank you so much Hugs Whisper, I'm so glad it touched you...I think alot of us have grandparents in similar situations...I so hope this can help some people to have a little more comfort in it! Thank you Hugs Startime, Thank you so much...I'm glad that your heart has been touched Hugs Thanks to all of you for the wonderful replies...each one has touched my heart in some way...Thank you Cindi |

Oh, Cindi! I love this! And I can understand it well. My mom had major memory lapses before she died last year. She once told me a story about myself, as if the person next to her was just a kind visitor. I just listened in silence. But she was smiling. And now, I often visit an elderly man with Alzheimers, who keeps talking to me as if he was only a child and back home in New York. And he is happy in his time and space. So, thanks for this. It is really wonderful. |

Vicky, Thank you so much...it's good to be posting again ![]() Love ya Cindi Midnitesun, I understand that very well, my grandmother once asked me where I was thinking I was my mother...it was like she was living in two different time zones for a while...now she just lives in her own little world, but at least she is happy and doesn't realize where she is or how sad the situation is...I think it's harder on my mother...which is why I wrote this for her ![]() Hugs Cindi |
