                              The Reading – Part 4

                              …slowly her memories faded
                              the music drew itself back in time
                              she unfolded the pages before her
                              a small smile creased as she read loud the rhyme

                              “M’lady, m’love, my dear heart
                              ‘tis only a matter of days
                              before I return to your dear heart
                              to share with you loving ways”

                              his words set forth all his plans
                              his return most imminent
                              had he known his fate forecast
                              this letter would have never been sent

                              she paused in tearful wonder
                              that he had not seen the signs
                              O why had fate so decreed
                              that he be taken from her at this time….

                              She knew only by word of his death
                              her heart lingered on hope that he lived
                              should she vain hold yet her breath
                              or let death trickle through her mind’s sieve

                              how could her love be thus ended
                              his broad strokes before her eyes lay
                              slowly her thoughts ascended
                              as she recalled his ship in the bay….

Oh this has that feel of "Gone With the Wind" and I am hoping this is a long one? Lovely, and I am all dressed up here in my mind in period clothes in my mind (I look lovely by the way - lol).
