Mother, I wrote a lullaby For these nights when you cry I wrote it when you thought I slept I tore it from the tears you wept I also reached for the sounds Crashing glass unto the ground Mother, as we wake, you sing Good morning son, may this day bring… How do you live the day on through? I see you’re lonely, I am too When you cry, I must too When you laugh, I’m with you But as your door shuts every night I wait in darkness deep in fright There’s the weight I cannot weather Our pain, so sharp it knits together Don’t shut me out... Mother Breathe Mother Breathe Let me in your room Let me in your womb We can go out to the café And have our double latte And maybe catch a honey I’m not vinegar ‘til you show But then I had a birthday And still I’m set at zero The clock is running out for you It’s a shame I’ll never know Just cry And I will too Just laugh And I’m with you Close that door each night And here we lay alone I’ll sing my song someday From a motel with a phone (Mother don't pretend I won't get a second chance to listen!) |

This is so sweet Walt. Nice twist of the tables to sing a lullaby to your Mom. Very nicely done If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please? |

Walt you may never know how much this one means to me---I'm saving this one. My mother is still not "my mother" after my father's death--and it looks like she never again will be either....HUGS to you with tears in eyes, THANK YOU. |

Walt - Bravo!! Chris Life is not measured by breaths you take, but by moments that take your breath away. |

gives me a feeling of sincerity. i like all the details about hearing mommy cry and son/daughter crying, hearing mommy laugh and son/daughter laugh. but i especially liked the part about going to the cafe for latte and picking up a honey 'cause "...I'm not vinegar 'til you show...." another fav... "...But then I had a birthday And still I’m set at zero The clock is running out for you It’s a shame I’ll never know..." good job! [This message has been edited by cruz (edited 10-17-2001).] |

This side of you wakes the anguish in my heart Walt. I can feel the concern and grown-up struggle to comfort Mom. To care for her this way and to try to ease the pain..a task for a child who may not understand the complexity of it..but still innocently try. Heartwarming to say the least. Thank you for sharing this. Sincerely, Regina |

This is a side of you I quite like to see, the very caring, vulnerable and loving looney Walt! There are so many could relate to this poem Walt and thanks for writing anyone who does. ~*~ Carpe' Diem ~*~ |
