Listening to every heart

Where Is It Now?

in normal times
on normal days
federal offices
have flags that wave
state offices
they have them too
they snap in the wind
red, white and blue

but these are not
our normal times
and our great flag
has reached new climes
mailboxes, cars,
houses, it’s true
they’re all waving
the red, white and blue

people display them
on their lapel
earrings, pins, on
shoes they dwell
T-shirts, blouses
on cats, dogs and horses
we’ll show old Laden
where our true force is

for it is the spirit
that guides us
our freedom that
swells
even the church
flies flags
dancing to somber
old bells

musicians, barkeeps
tailors and more
fly a flag proudly
displayed on their doors
children of all ages
know the anthem again
not a matter of time,
but a matter of when!

Where is it Now?
this pride, it’s intact!
our spirit reborn though
lives won’t come back!
Our sorrows are great,
but our spirit is stronger!
so when you fly yours,
fly it proudly and longer!

Wonderful tribute to the flag

yes, I love this!!!   there were some folks in Rocklin, Ca. that took their child out of a school that had God Bless America on its bulliten board, and wanted I gues to sue the school. How sad is that?! It broke my heart to hear that. I see a flag every where I go now, and it makes me feel so proud. Long may it wave!! oh and GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!!

Karilea, not only am I thrilled with our flag, but I'm also grateful it doesn't have any kitties on it!  I'm doubly blessed!  A sweet poem by you, BTW.

God bless Old Glory.  I wish we were as vocal and demonstrative every day of every year.

And I have your little red, white, and blue waving right beside my red and white!  You know this is beautiful, simply beautiful, and oh but you live up to your name!

Just as with Mysteria, yours is right there beside out Maple Leaf.  I have never seen such outpouring of patriotism...ever...and not just in your country but ours here in Canada as well.  Thank you for writing this!

Thank you, Faithful Readers...I hope your spirits, and those of the Nation, never flag again...

and that our open pride has returned to stay...
