Held Between

Between the words are mindless thoughts
squeezing, compressing a love once known.
No keyboard can ever take the place
of fingers, gracefully exerting themselves,
steadily reaching pressure points
that plead to be flushed out.

Between the lines are marks,
that burnish, leaving me shimmering,
a patina of hope to reason it's use.
Each branding me with your stamp,
affixing me to you.

Between you and me, there is
understanding, a combining of effort
riding this relationship of shifting thoughts,
spaced between possibilities,
chanced by a meet.

Forever to be connected, we are
held captive ... between the lines.
