Silent Night This silence between us speaks volumes ... perhaps there's just nothing left to say. Another day goes unspoken ... as you seem to quietly slip further away. I sit here in the darkness of your void ... searching the horizon for your light. But dawn turns to dusk again ... day fades to another silent night. Why must I beg for your company ... perhaps it's a case of out of sight, out of mind? Maybe I'm the one to blame ... but I'm feeling the pain of left behind. I need you beside me to guide me ... I need you more than these words will ever say. I wont make it much longer without you ... God I pray you're not gone to stay. I know I've put you through hell again ... one too many times I made the wrong choice. For my sins I'm paying the ultimate price ... in atonement you punish me by taking my voice. Left alone to suffer in silence ... I cant breathe if I cant rhyme. Deaf, dumb, blind, and mute ... I feel like a handcuffed mime. On bended knee I plea ... give me back my poetry ... for without you my muse ... I simply cease to be. Janet Marie ~~~~~~~~~~~~ "I don't remember losing track of you You were always dancing in and out of view I must've always thought you'd be around Always keeping things real by playing the clown Now you're nowhere to be found" Jackson Browne ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Now the words had all been spoken And somehow the feeling still wasn't right And still we continued on through the night." "Now for me some words come easy But I know that they don't mean that much Compared with the things that are said when lovers touch You never knew what I loved in you I don't know what you loved in me Maybe the picture of somebody you were hoping I might be" ~Jackson Browne~ ![]() [This message has been edited by Janet Marie (edited 07-25-2001).] |

Some poems take my breath away...this is one of them. I don't feel so quite alone as I did a moment ago. Thank you. |

Janet Marie- WOW!! This is truly incredible!!! "Left alone to suffer in silence ... I cant breathe if I cant rhyme. Deaf, dumb, blind, and mute ... I feel like a handcuffed mime. On bended knee I plea ... give me back my poetry ... without you my muse ... I simply cease to be." Trust me, my friend...your muse isn't nearly as far away as you think. She's simply disguised herself as someone else to make you think she isn't there, but she let the cat out of the bag with this one. ![]() AWESOME write, my friend!! ![]() love and hugs, ~vicky "...until you have read the verse on his heart, you have not truely met the poet." -vlraynes [This message has been edited by vlraynes (edited 07-25-2001).] |

Jan? Sometimes it just wants to go in a different direction. I love you much and miss you more than much. Will be in touch soon. IN FACT, right now...smile... And you wrote this so eloquently, the anguish of the unexpressed feeling is poignantly apparent here. Love you, luv. |

Serenity has it, they are never really lost those skelliwags(sp) just wanting to go their own way. After a short power struggle they return, but are never quite the same! Janet Marie, I have been there and will be again, but know the pain that comes with it too and you spoke it well in this piece. Well done! ~ Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance ~And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance ~ I hope you dance. (Lee Ann Womack) |

oh, don't i know the feeling. it hurts to even say their name, to know how far they are...but god, it's where the best poetry comes from. i don't know if you've got a spy cam on me, but i've been gone for months (for the reasons you've so vividly portrayed here) and still you know where i'm at. you make me want to write kindred one.... but like you've penned here... my muse is elsewhere. and for me...it hurts when she comes round. i love it when you hit the nail on the head. *and ya always do... ![]() the Bar is always open. the Time is always right. if god's lovin Word goes unspoken, the Music goes all night. "I sit here in the darkness of your void ... searching the horizon for your light." "Left alone to suffer in silence ... I cant breathe if I cant rhyme. Deaf, dumb, blind, and mute ... I feel like a handcuffed mime." What a wonderful twist you've placed in this context JM ... the human aspects you've captured at the distancing of a loved one, was brought beautifully into focus through the surprise I found when discovered you were addressing your muse. Oh my dear, she has definately not deserted you my friend ... this was beautifully written. I really enjoyed this lovely piece. Please tell her that for me will you? . ![]() Best wishes, /Kit |

I too wondered who the jerk was who caused such anguish. Glad it was one whose neck I can't get in trouble for wringing. "Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to decieve" |

Girlie...you are poetry...look through my eyes and see the beauty in your soul listen through my ears and hear your song It's there in every beat of your heart... you just need to see the reason to weave it all again...the wings of a butterfly beat within your chest....now let them fly~ Love you~ |

I see your muse creeping back in, hiding behind doorways, in the ink well, sneaking through the pen's cap.... now go find a quiet spot and let her do the talking for a little while - I think she's about ready to explode! |

Wow - Janet you express your desire to find your muse so powerfully and intensely. But, truly, in my eyes your muse could never be lost or diminished. You're a gifted artist of words, my friend ![]() This one's for the library, butterfly poetess~ Melissa~ |

jan, this was so sad & touching. you are such a gifted writer, and even when your muse is "missing" your work still touches many hearts. look around this place at how many folks you have touched. your words are there, they are just underneath all that's going on. your muse hasn't left you. she is hurt like you say, probably. now that ive rambled on and prob made a fool outta myself...just wanted to say great piece and nice seeing you. love you. me ![]() "but i see your true colors, |

I think I know a cure to this curse of yours in not being able to find your muse when you really need her. So guess what??!!?? Yeppers, CHALLENGE TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Start from this and see where you can take it. As I stumbled onto the pathway of your gaze I found myself spellbound within love's maze Illuminated jewels of mesmerizing pleasure Guiding my heart towards a heavenly treasure ................ Now it is your turn o' sweet puddle puff of unleashed abandonment. By the way. I DID like the way you poured your heart out in the poetic plea for return of that playful muse of yours. It flows across the soul just as much as one of your butterfly verses. Nice try but I ain't buying it. Oh, and did I mention that you have until tomorrow to write the next verse the this gift I left you? ![]() |

Thank you always seems to little to say to you all for these wonderful, replies and compliments...and your encouragement and support is priceless and treasured. I realize my muse is in some sort of transition and perhaps taking a new direction, or perhaps taking a break from me. I can wear anyone out *L* And yes my dear fellow poets I do realize me muse is around if I am able to write this, but the frustration of the long lulls in between the poems and the fact that I cant write out what ever is locked inside is what needs expressing the most. I know its all part of the territory if we are going to call ourselves writers. THANK YOU ALL for putting up with me and my moody muse ![]() and Mark...thank you so much for that beautiful verse...BUT that verse is too pretty to give away...So Im going to give it back to you so you can work your magic on it...and HEY how about posting a poem!!! Im not above begging *L* Post a poem cowboy...or I wont send anymore HOT CHIPS ![]() THANK YOU Poetry Land love to all jm only you could give love that satisfies the soul... |

Dear Janet Marie, I thought it was about a relationship of a couple (in the human sense), very well done, writer's block hits us all, just keep thinking, trying, and write everything down, much will come to a poet like yourself to produce flow and rhythm. Great work. Rick |

Reading this intensely beautiful outpour of art leads me to believe that it is not your Muse whom you seek, JM... Perhaps this is a completely subjective statement, and obviously I know nothing of your personal life, but from personal experience, I would venture to say that what you seek is... Love. This, is the ambrosial food of eternity which seductively feeds the muse one delicious inspiration-filled grape at a time... Know, at least, that we all love you here... -MVS "When you tell the Truth, you never have to remember what you just said." |
