The Baptist and the Caravan I've seen such heat that deserts breed Sometimes boil and towering seed Great hope for rain. I've heard the thunderous calling vent Hot blasts until my little tent Resents the strain With puffs and tugs that never gain Till ties to holdings I release. I've felt the cool descend to this, Worn brow, each scar and crease Alive with rushing Towards the river's peace. RMW |

Bob... you always leave me not only thinking about your words..but feeling them... YOU are a treasure.... inspired by you.... I've felt the heat of blasting sun burn low and high on days of wandering searing footfalls left pondering still seeking oasis in your words |

Lady in White - Thank you very much. You are too kind. Cpat Hair - Thank you for YOUR words. However, as I know you will appreciate, I would be remiss were I to fail to direct any visitor to the oasis.....to the ..... well. Smiles. Bob |

Lighthousebob - Thanks much for the invitation to the deep end. Smiling. VAS - Thanks, neighbor. Martie - Smiles. Interloper - Dumb? Never. This poem borrows more than a little from the geography of the Holy Land, that is, the Jordan River and the gully cut bluffs and cliffs that run its length. It was there that folks from Jerusalem and the surrounding countryside went to hear John the Baptist. Thanks for your interest, Sir. Bob |
