This is a poem written for my older brother who hasn't been a part of my life since I was very young. He works two blocks from the WTC, so I could have very well lost him in that tragedy and it made me realize that we should start being a part of each others life before it's too late. Last time I saw him I was 15 which was four years ago Though you are an abstract part of my life My love for you cannot be measured I only have a handful of memories with you Each one of them is deeply treasured Life is so unpredictable Plus it can be unbareably tough I feel incomplete due to your absence While I was growing up Of all my hopes And all the things I've wished The one I really want granted Is for us to coexist I truly hope you'll visit me When the time comes for vacation I cried as I crossed the stage in my cap and gown The one person I wanted wasn't at my graduation Are you aware of how much I love you? More than anything in this world Maybe at times that is why I appear to be an emotionally unstable girl We are family bound until the end of our lives Despite that nothing lasts forever I want the tie between us to tighten Not loosen or sever This weeks unthinkable events opened my eyes I could've lost you to something tragic In the blink of an eye you could disappear Almost like magic To think It's possible to lose you Is a terrible visual to imagine My insides would shatter like a plate glass window Is there ever really a reason why things happen? Like the soap opera, you get one life to live After that you won't get another A big gap is missing from my life An empty void that belongs to my brother! We've lost a lot of precious time Which sadly we cannot recover There's no time like the present So lets spend the present time rediscovering eachother... |

I lost my youngest brother and a younger sister ... so believe me, I cherish each day and each contact with my oldest brother and my youngest sister ...... I have a half-brother that I haven't even seen in years. This poem touched a place that needed to be felt. Tight poem. |

very sweet.. makes me think about my half-brother I don't talk to much.. makes me want to try and get along with him.. very good poem.. very touching! A Life without Love, is no life at all... |

I am delighted to see that my poem touched all of you. Your kinds words/ thoughts are very much appreciated and I thank you. As for my brother..yes I have his address and from time to time I mail him pictures of me but he never bother to write back to me. The most important thing in his life is his girlfriend that he has been with for the past 9 years so basically he makes it seem as if he does not have room for me in his life. I'm always the one making the attempt to be close to him but he never reaches out to me so I don't know what else I can do.. So I will e-mail this poem to him and maybe it will touch him the way it touched all of you. Keep your fingers crossed : ) <3 RP |
