On the scene surrounded by rubble and digging men sits a big yellow crane that never seems to stop Massive jaws dip to lift another load again and again But oh so gently swinging and letting it drop Like a mother cat carrying her kittens to bed It will not stop till all hope has past away It's not just the dust and smoke that makes their eyes red Yes they are in tears they cry, they dig, they pray paladin |

They work around the clock and some say they will not stop until they know that there is no one left to bring out..dead or alive.. they are worthy of our respect and admiration. You did them proud! |

Paladin, I applaud these men and women, who do a wonderful job without looking for reward. Thanks for reminding us of the care they take, along with the risks. Dee I wish you every happiness and may you always have the best of the good things in life. a brand |

Paladin~ This is just superb imagery ... it word-draws the scene vividly~ 'On the scene surrounded by rubble and digging men sits a big yellow crane that never seems to stop Massive jaws dip to lift another load again and again But oh so gently swinging and letting it drop Like a mother cat carrying her kittens to bed' Your simile is perfectly done ! Thank you for the thoughtful compassion shown in this piece~ ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |

nice job... Yours and all of America's emotions are well portrayed here. This pain will fade but it will never go away. |

Well said. How weary they must be of digging and finding only rubble. What brave men and women to keep on with such determination. Joyce |

I almost feel guilty...it's too easy to sit here reading and writing, while knowing the sacrifice those rescue workers are making. I cannot imagine the aura of emotional trauma at 'ground zero', the euphemism I am accustomed to hearing when describing earthquakes, tornadoes and hurricanes. But this ground zero took a toll far worse than our worst natural disaster. Your words painted a gruesome but real scene. |
