The Heart of America

Sounds of sorrow on the winds
I hear cries of yesterday
and though we face this terror
our unity is here to stay.

The screams of horror filled the air
with a deadly, erie sound
yet still we stand united
feet planted firmly on our ground.

Our nation will not be diminished
our resolution will never sway
for as a people we are America
and as a united country
we will never go away.

If they think they have succeeded
my friend they sadly are mistaken
for all they've managed to accomplish
is the heart of America they have awakened.

Thank you all very much. It was an honor for me to have this poem be read as an opening in the local radio broadcast for a prayer for peace. I was astounded! It is great to be an American.

we stand proud under the red, white, and blue!
