In the Dust I see you there in morning dust Preparing to go where you must Though I don’t even know your name My heart will never be the same A figure in a building’s haze That mushroomed up when it was razed Twin towers fell and in the crush They left you standing in the dust A profile of a lovely girl To me had slowly been unfurled A sad demeanor to the form Of one so tender, young and warm Why do you gaze at me this way? Are there some words you want to say To someone you’ve been thinking of? To say goodbye to one you love? I see you slowly nod your head The love you feel has gone unsaid Don’t worry, I will find the one Whose heart has been in silence won I’ll tell him of the love and trust You hold and harbor in the dust You would have said what’s on your mind There was no chance. There was no time. This sudden outcome was your fate But when you love, it’s never late To tell what’s really in your heart Though you will always be apart From dust God said you were conceived And in the blinding dust you leave Please be assured that he will know The love that you cannot bestow You vanished in the ashy air I’ll tell him you had lingered there And in your silence you revealed A message you had long concealed Your love for him you would entrust A stranger standing in the dust In peace you left just as you came And I didn’t even know your name Elizabeth Santos |

I can only read a few poems at a time before I get overcome with emotion. You leave me crying my dear. |

I trials and tribulations, the pen, although mightier than the sword, is often left only to sing the sword's tragedy. Lovely and well done. |

and I too, have not been able to read very many before I have to turn and reach for the kleenex. My eyes have been swollen all week. I feel God has lifted his veil of protection from our nation and we have denied him far too long. It is time to put him back in our schools, our government and our children's lives. GOd help us and thank you for this. Kathleen |
