Looking at the papers
In the tragic aftermath.
Destruction, desolation-
Of some mad, uncaring wrath-

The saddest thing of all, I think-
The one I find most bitter,
Is the subtle irony,
Which many don't consider.

Monday night, in ignorance
The families kept their date...
With their every day routine,
And never dreamt that fate...

Would shatter lives remorselessly
So soon their world would end.
They would have seen things differently-
On that you may depend.

The crying child they might have held-
The hasty word, not said-
If they'd had some way to know,
Their loved ones would be dead...

Those harsh recriminations-
The placing of the blame...
Upon the hapless victim...
Who would soon expire in flame...

We seldom take the time to look,
At blessings we could claim-
The, "Daddy, we sure love you's"
Family pictures in their frame...

I sat down with my children-
Something that I seldom do,
And read with them the Bible-
Told them, "Daddy loves you, too."

And so a good has come from evil.  I hope you sit down with them on a regular basis now.  I, too, am reevaluating many things.

John, another side of this pain I am sure many need to look at. Even this far away, my family has become my main priority, as they should.

Thank you,
Dee

thank you for sharing...it reminds me at the pictures of the son that calls from the airplane to his family, his last words were "I love you"
