you with your fancy words
and prima donna hair
speaking for me you say?
pretending that you care

you think the airtime you get
will give you an anchor seat
that all the ratings will go your way
your competitors will be beat

I'm turning you off right now
every Peter and Tom and Dan
I'll not listen to another word
try to make me if you can

I can't cope with all the words
that seem to pour out of you
leave me alone, go away
there is nothing you can do

I know these pictures are lies
this couldn't happen here
so take away the instant replay
there is nothing to fear

I so understand this.  I want to crawl into an electricity free hole and wake up tomorrow to find it was all a horrible dream.  Yet, I cannot turn the television off.  It feels as if this is the least I can do, a penance of sorts.  I must hear each story so that I can pray for each of the real victims.  It's crazy, I know.  But the world is suddenly crazy and I have no idea how to deal with it.  I am dehydrated from crying.  I feel as if I have aged 10 years overnight.  I remember stories my grandmother told about Pearl Harbor and I realize I am living through history.  A history I couldn't have comprehended 3 days ago.  I'm sorry to ramble on.  I seem to be either speechless or can't say enough to get out everything I feel.

Sharon-
   I certainly know this feeling...and,
oh, how my heart wishes it were true.

Indeed - and yet we can't turn it off.  How I wish we could...

THank you .... I have been reading all the poetry here, but cannot find the words to express how I feel..so if I don't reply to your work, it's not that I don't like it or think it's worthy...it's that I cannot speak right now.

Sharon, I have been trying to write on the site in support, and tried to turn off the t.v. and keep turning it on, I truly wish with all my heart this were a re-run of a bad movie instead of reality.  I can't sleep or eat properly, and I join you in the wish to just turn it off!  Wonderful writing. Hugs.

America's heart is beating together. A common bond of love and brotherhood, that go's deeper than anyone could have really ever known. We will go through all the stages of grief together.. and we pray to God for the answers.
