Small Bruises

It begins with desire,
a filigreed fairy-tale weave,
designed in honeyed links
to coax reality from its grip.

Then the mind nullifies
all sense of objectivity,
idyllic masks stretch
to overlap incompatibilities.

Enchantment, though, is fleeting,
along comes expectation
to put to ruin
simple joys,
ironically,
a trap
of hope.

In time, there are bruises,
scars
only lovers can see,
the damage,
cumulative.

I'm short for words here, being fresh from the devastation of divorce.  It's a nicely written piece which touches me, Corinne.

"scars
only lovers can see,"  Nice.

Corinne, I am speechless...your words ring true indeed. Excellent write.

Thanks, Topheth, I'm sorry to hear about your situation, been a year for me. It still comes back to haunt, now and then. I actually wrote this after my first fight with my new love, realization that everyone has flaws and we eventually begin to hurt each other even though we don't intend to do so.

Thank you, CitizenX!

Corinne,
Yes, the bruises do penetrate the heart.

Respond to my call and let the waves of my heart fill your life with the wonders of love
