“Come out of the clouds!” They screamed As if they could drag me Down from my ascension. Where is your mind child? “She lacks focus!” They spat at my parents. Momma looked at me In my corner dream And smiled. “I think her focus is just fine. I wouldn’t want to be in your Tunnel either” She spat back To my 3rd grade teacher. The love hate relationship began They mostly hated me Ask me if I cared I had the ticket To dreamscape 101 The library There is where my dreams could fly On wings of every color There is where I was bound And branded With old glue and printers ink The Threshold of every idea Known and contemplated Under the literary sun No one knew anything of me For nine years I escaped Cocooning across every page Of silken script and microfiche Pulling me in like sirens I drowned myself As the bullies cornered me In the hallway Knocking my books from my arms Kicking them from my grasp They jeered and sneered “Hey! You’re that geeky girl.” “The one that does nothin but read.” “You are so ugly... It hurts to look at you!” My only reply... “And you must be the jocks!” “The ones that carry their little brains In strapping fashion. “I bet between the five of you, “You might come up with At least ONE ball to toss around!” I gave myself an A+ For my first human dissection Herophilus (circa 335-280BC) Was one of the first The Prom approached me In different light |

An interesting chapter of life which entices one to look forward to the next segment... ;-> -MVS "It's all in the details -- the Big Picture always takes care of itself." |

GOOD COMEBACK. From a fellow bookworm, I really, really like this If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please? |

I too am a fellow bookworm and I got a real kick out of this. Waiting eagerly for part 2 if there might be one? Dawn |

Well done! The comeback , the poem! Classic! I wasn't a bookworm, but I'm turning into one these days as I found I could stay awake while reading if I did my reading while walking for my health. |

A wonderful last line, Regina! If you were geeky, well, you've certainly come a long way! A library is the greatest sanctuary one can have..... |

Mark: Just more stuff. I'm so glad it enticed you! Thank you Mark. Tracey: My comebacks are defense mechanisms. They are good, but get me in a lot of trouble Glad you connected in love of books! Dawn: Don't know about part 2. But so glad you enjoyed this threshold of idea 1. Thank you so much! Vas: Thanks! Yeah for you! Walk and read a great combination. Good for your heart and your brain. Balladeer: Thank you sweet poet! The library was definately mine. From Nabokov to Kama Sutra! Cpat: Thanks for your wonderful smile. I love it when I write something that makes that happen! Rex: I never hit guys with glasses. And you are too sweet! Thank you! Geek=nerd=square=dork...etc. Faterider: Oh, The Saint's! Yes to my little interplanetary prince of prose. And the video! Not just a simple children's book is it. But my fav as a child, Charlotte's Web by E.B. White. My fav teen authoress Judy Blume. I could chatter forever! Pain was meaningless game to some I walked the halls with, but yes, there was pain. Thank you all so much. Sincerely, Regina |
