To the long ago severed link to my past
The one who gave me my world & left it fast
Sometimes I think it was all a dream, did you really exist?
It leaves me sad and depressed at times, but it also leaves me pissed
I wonder often if a day will arrive
When chance favors hope and our paths will collide
If that day should come, I honestly can't say how I will react
Whether or not I'll want to hug you, or just give you a smack
It's been almost 20 years, and still I ask the question why
You gave me my life and left it, without saying goodbye
All I know of you are stories and pictures, memories frozen in time
Even though you couldn't be arrested for it, I feel you've commited a crime
If people could be incarcerated for mental pain and scars
You'd be doing 25 to life right now, looking at the world through bars
But, if our lives were intertwined, I can't honestly say
That I would have grown to be the man that's standing here today
Still, I can't understand why it happened, did you put all your eggs in one basket?
Sometimes I hope you're alive. Other times I pray you're in a casket
I often look at the sky at night, with nothing but the moon to see
And think about that long-lost piece of family unity
I may never know the reasons why you did exactly what you did
But I promise that I will always be a father to my kid
I'll do everything in my power to help them through and through
So every time I look in the mirror, I will never have to see you

*Shed's a tear for will* It's very sad when a father leaves his child and runs from
repsonsibility. It must have made you a
stronger man, I can tell that by the way
you said you are going to be there for your kids so when you look in the mirror you wont see your dad. Very nice masterpiece

How deeply emotional. Very moving piece. A wonderful first write. Look forward to seeing more

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?
