    dreams... of the night

close her eyes with your thoughts
take her breath away with your words
she dances in your arms and your dreams
slip your hands around her waist
  hold her close
she moves and you feel her breath on your neck
soft music swirling her gossamer gown
  shimmering as emeralds on fire
her eyes look but see nothing but the moment
  delicate motions of her hair
stir the beat of your heart
hovering near and yet so far
feeling the rhythm of two hearts
the rhythm of the very universe
two hearts entwine as one spirit
she takes flight in your arms
she whispers and you close your eyes
this dream and the night go on forever

There is nothing "rusty" about this poem. It's fresh and beautiful, and my feet were dancing. I really liked the "gossamer gown shimmering as emeralds on fire".

Rusty

I've always dreamed of writing something that would have all the ladies here at Passions cheering and dreaming.  You've accomplished this feat.  It seems like your a "knight in shining armor."  I hope your image never tarnishes.  Good writing.  Welcome to Passions.

I like it a lot, good images...the only thing I wonder about, is if it might be more attention-grabbing if heart/hearts were not used so often in such proximity.  Of course, since it's a short piece you can't get them far apart, therefore, are there some synonyms that would work, you think?

Hi, a bit late in my welcome, but I must have missed this before..Funny thing, I wrote a poem in my early passions days, called Rusted Knight..LOL
Sounds like you are a lot more romantic than he, if this post is any indication. Very nice and flowing. Makes me want to dance.

Vas,
You are right, thanks...I have worked on that area before and have not got the exact words to it yet.  I am very aware of areas in my prose that repeat too close together, but had not see the forest for the trees on this.  Thanks again

Thanks to all of you for your comments.  We put a part of ourselves on the line when we share something like this and I am humbled by the response.  Thank you
