where insanity meets breeding

No manual for love are we given in life
No dressings for wounds or blessings for strife
No nurses to heal the fragile of heart
No band aids to hold us when we fall apart
The pain that I feel for a love that's gone spare
The emptiness knowing you're no longer there
Deflating a dream held for so many years
Wishes are now only subjects for tears
How can you love when you're soul's pledged to mine?
How could you give up a heart so devine?
A love that was given from heaven above
A pledge of eternity given to love
What use is my soul as it wanders the earth
When all that it wants is to stay at your hearth
Forever it roams and you might say it's free
That isn't a sentiment that's shared by me
Where is your love now? What does it see?
Does it break down as it's crying for me?
Does it wake you at night to call out my name?
And sentence your heart to a lifetime of pain?

Wherever you may, on this planet roam
Remember my love, your heart has a home
A place at the table of my fragile soul
Forever my love, my heart you will hold

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

Thank you sweet Tracey, for now you have written MY heart!   Never could figure out where that on/off switch for love was...smiles and hugs to you. I understand.

Oh Tracey, I have to  agree with Serenity. You have peeked into my heart also. I feel just this was, and I don't mind admiting it anymore. Very nice poem, also, even without the personal meaning.

I'm glad that you both liked it. I've read poems by both of you, and knew we were speaking from the same state of mind. I put another one in the Critical Analysis that might just speak to you as well.

Serenity, if you ever find that on/off button, let me know where to find it, cause this lost love has haunted me for entirely too long!!

So glad you enjoyed it

First of all I wish to say welcome to Poetry Land Tracy, so nice to meet you.
This is a cadence kissed write of a heart that holds on to all it knows.
You have penned the sentiments  far too many of us carry, and youve penned them with grace
very well done poetess.

Yes, WELCOME! A heart wrenching entry and very nice to be introduced to you! I wish I could tell you there is another around the corner. But our love is only circles. Maybe there is life out there that will merge as my experience did. With similar understanding. I hope for you this.

Sincerely,
Regina

I read this shortly after you first posted it but didn't reply because it hit a little too close to home.  It still does.

Some folks have an on/off switch for love, but alas poets and die hard romantics are built with out them.  A fact you just told us about in a lovely way.

Death comes not when we cease to breath, but when we cease to dream.

Janet Marie - thank you for the welcome and the kind words

Regina -  thank you. I'm happy that you have found such happiness. Lucky lady (and lucky man to have one with such a beautiful mind-I have read your poetry).

Seymour - thank you for the welcome

Alan - I'm so glad it touched your heart

James Michael - yes,I think all our hearts want a home. Those who have found one are very lucky indeed.

Walker and Dee - thank you for enjoying it

Duncan - thank you for coming back and commenting. If it hit close to home, you understand the thoughts here

Rusty Knight - I think you're right, we are built without the on/off switch. Though it may be painful at times, I think I prefer it that way. When one feels, one is truly alive.

Thank you all for your kind welcome
