The Thicket

The thicket
Growth will interrupt;
Sight as well
And even thought if day has slipped
Into the arms of sunset.
Perhaps it's just that calm and panic
Have crossed themselves,
As if for luck,
Then struck a pact with reproducing
Nonchalance.
Needles blanket a spot
Ancient with the right to fertility.
Still, as if it needs a seal, a mark
For something more than stunted acts,
Initials attest to the commencement
If not the heart
Of selection.

Disney escaped into my mind and in the heart of me I saw the twine of arms of pine enfolded o'er...a needle's lot to which it covers...

I enjoyed this!

I cannot claim I understand this piece, but I really like these two lines, they're mesmerizing:

Perhaps it's just that calm and panic
Have crossed themselves,

Thank you, all. Although it continues to feel as though I'm working on a pocket watch with a hammer and chisel I do appreciate and value your comments. "Once more unto the breach dear friends, once more, and fill the wall up with our ENGLISH dead." Smiling. Bob

Hi RM

Great subject to be followed by a unique characterization of the thicket's properties and its relation to the the human temperament.
Interesting piece to read -- thanks for posting it!
