and long is tall
to have opinions
as you may, then
realize you may have
a day
of surprise

You Are Hereby Authorized

that in the best of
all your tests
that in the rise
of your surmise
that in the glean of
your serene
everyone must live
a life, be it animal
child, husband
or wife

You Are Hereby Authorized

to give a smile
while you feel gray,
smile a mile so you may
brighten up your
gloomy day
in reflections that come
back at you,
in all you say,
and in all you do,
and in this vastness
of surprise,
