Suellen's  Wedding  Day

Our first born re-married in the great outdoors where all creatures came
With her family and friends around and with love flowing like honey
Her three youngest also got married to share the couple and same last name
So beautiful with granddaughters as flower girls making a cloudy day seem sunny

As weddings go it was quite unusual and wouldn't make social head lines
But I heard it from the groom that as plans went it was perfect for them
And with the future ahead they could age together as great fine wines
They had lived the past, endured all the trials and this life they would all win

After the "I Do's" and pictures and hugs and kisses and even some tears
Time to take a deep breath, look around, try to remember faces of new family and friends
So many little ones with parents in tow with smiles and laughter to last through the years
The clouds went away, the sun came out, time for picnic foods, sure to win

Now for dancing, take off the shoes, crank up the music, join in or just reminisce
So cute to see the very young mimic the oldsters doing the Chicken and Twist
The sand is flying, laughter, screams of delight, the bride and groom share another kiss
I think even the forest animals joined in the fun and to witness their bliss

In years gone by I've seen the pain and loneliness in her eyes, even fear of the future
I added some "I TOLD YOU SO's", as a mother tried to understand what went wrong
This day won't end all doubts or fears or pain but she and I have grown more mature
Starting fresh, looking ahead, a partner at her side, happiness lasting a lifetime long

Wishing you the very best in the new adventure in time
Warm hugs for y'all and on this marriage may the sun always shine
Love to this new family,  Mom

I love the way it looked through your eyes mom...a beautiful gift and I hope that you will share this with her...something I know she will cherish.  Beautiful writing!

So lovely to capture and share a moment of pride and hope for your newlywed couple. I too hope the sun shines on their marriage. God Bless and keep you all. The poem reminded me of the way weddings used to be in the golden days. A great start.

Sincerely,
Regina

Regina, you are so right.  Now they are still paying the bills when they start the divorce.  Sad....  I, too, hope this time it works out and not just because I am the mom and grandmom and great-grandmom to this "tribe".

Sometimes older folk realize that a second start might mean that much more happiness for all concerned...

sometimes, even the third time is the Charm...

which you have accepted with the grace and maturity of your wisdom...

well done, ME

Seymour, glad you enjoyed.

Decaflame, I only want my children to be as happy as possible.  Sometimes it takes several tries.  If it doesn't work....please get out and try again.

Sven, thanks and I have a BIG paint brush.
