I thought to bring a friend,
and found you waiting here.
I thought to bring a song of love
and it's your heart's tune I hear.

I thought to bring a smile to share,
and you gave it back to me.
I thought to bring an open heart,
and you filled it generously.

All these things, I thought I'd bring
to share with poet friends,
and soon I learned that with the giving
the receiving never ends.
