There’s a candle burning for me at St. James

Votive hope
calls down heaven,
pushes back hell-
a tapered mountain illuminates
stain glass memories
Prisms of green, red and purifying
gold reflect a carved out promise
from Divinity.
But it’s more than that.
It’s the action behind the glow.
Igniting a touch when you
cannot reach
through time, space and yes,
even words.
It goes beyond words
and into your being.

There’s a candle burning
for me at St. James.

Within the flame is a prayer
that someone
cared enough to connect his time,
space and yes,
even words to inspire faith
in another soul
who is hurting.

There is immaculate
cleansing,
warmth from spirit to spirit
and all the embodiment of love
poured out from wick to end.

There’s a candle burning for me
at St. James.

In my heart of hearts there
is a new peace which passes the
understanding of my mind, for once
I lost a portion that I so desperately
claimed as my own.
In lost trust, lost faith and lost dignity
I absorb the light of this candle and
receive blessing and a benevolent spirit
fills the inner valley of a bruised
and healing vessel.

There’s a candle burning for me at St. James.

There's a friend who remembered that healing is
reflected from stained glass, divided into sheen
and shines through with a fire no human torch
can light, one that ignites from love and burns
eternally.
