In the quiet of the evening mist
There's a shadow dancing free
and beside the glow of sunlight's kiss
shines new light inside of me.

Can you see beyond the black and white
to the images inside?
Will you read the words I write?
beyond my wounded pride?

Oh, I was so mesmerized
but never justified
and I so enveloped all
the where and when and how.

But I'm coming in from pouring rain
and the deserts arid peace
and I hear a songbirds sweet refrain
sending down my soul's release.

In my blood there is a fueling fire
it's passed down from generations
and through poetry I now inspire
all my newfound revelations.

Oh, I was so mesmerized
but never justified.
And I so enveloped all
the where and when and how.

I was never called to testify
by the jury of my peers
now my soul must try to sanctify
what I lost throughout the years.

Oh, I was so mesmerized
but never justified.
And I so enveloped all
the where and when and how.

I refresh and write to God, a vow
while my heart can heal and mend
To another verse and find somehow
I am poet, once again.

aka Irish Rose

Kay

A beautiful song of devotion and finding new direction...
and the perfect post to usher you in as poetess Kay...
You are indeed coming out of the shadows...
find your place in the sun and then shine in your own light.

No longer Irish Rose... Welcome KAY

I put that on there so there would be no doubt as to WHO I am. That is my name, that's who I am and I'm a poet. ME, no one else.
Thank you Janet Marie, I may not be here as often but if I feel like posting and writing, it's good for my emotional health. Love you. (sorry forgot to change the reply from Irish Rose, God, I need to check this browser!)

Good for you, dear one...sometimes a fresh start can do so much for you...beautiful, heartfelt poetry, I'm glad to see that you are a poet again.   And by the way, I absolutely adored this verse-- "Oh, I was so mesmerized
                                            but never justified.
                                           And I so enveloped all
the where and when and how."

Simply excellent.  Thanks for the lovely write.

Thank you all, this IS a fresh start and I can't get any fresher than complete and total poetry. I appreciate it your reading and if you got something out of it that's fine too.

There is nothing like a frsh start, nothing wrong with that.  We all need one at one time or another.  This is lovely.  You are a poet, but oh so much more than that in my eyes.  I love you.

The quality remains the same
even though another name.
The truth that finds it's way to page
can't be hidden by that Irish sage.

Lovely work here and I have to say...as usual!!

so a new name and a fresh start...interesting idea

I loved this stanza most:
But I'm coming in from pouring rain
and the deserts arid peace
and I hear a songbirds sweet refrain
sending down my soul's release.
