On rare occasions, he sees
a peacock fly
past rooftops covering
their bald heads with the evening sun

The bird’s tail
wavers on the breeze
as if a woman were shaking dry
one of her silk nightgowns.

He thinks its plumed movement
slurs accents of green and blue
tree and lake
youth and meditation.

Should I tell him
you are thinking
in a moonlit garden
a thousand miles away.

Snow-feathered boughs
of evergreen sweep
the night air and you dream

of peacocks bleached white
like bed sheets; and winter’s loneliness
mating with you

when you should be mating with him
in mountain waters
under an eyebrow of shade --

arched, hinting
at eternity.

Hmm...  Subtle glimpses at their fate, touching but never grasping....... That is a valid interpretation is it not?  Sorry, I'm a little thick at times.  I hope I got it right.

Well anyway, this poem is very good, at least in the eyes of this once-reluctant junior poet.  I really liked this, it's going in my library.  I hope to see more work from u soon.

This is so softly penned. I really enjoyed the feathery effect of this write. As if either place would be more beautiful than the other, but I would have a hard time choosing, the imagery so exquisite. Very nicely done!

Sincerely,

This was beautiful from beginning to end and the cadence is nothing less than masterful.  I loved the imagery, the flow and the construction of this entire piece.  Great penning indeed.
